The project was the remodel of a 1970s home overlooking Aspen and our clients desired to update the home that they have lived in for decades. While the location and view were ideal, the structure itself desperately needed to be brought into the 21st century. Since the architecture was already in place, the challenge was to maintain the integrity of the original structure while replacing outdated technologies and carefully editing materials and design features that are identifiably “1970s”. A particularly effective element of the remodel was the “corn blasting” of the pyramidal ceilings, stripping away decades of paint build up to expose the beauty of the original wood and restore a strong architectural feature of the original house.
