This project required the remodel of a 1960s home in Houston, Texas that had been designed by a notable Texas architect. Although the new owners loved the architecture of the home, as well as its location on a large lot adjacent to one of the many Bayous that crisscross the Houston metroplex, the structure did not meet their needs. With a young family, and a position in society that required them to entertain often, our challenge was to update the home while paying homage to the original design. One particular and very unique element of this project was the owners\u2019 desire to have an office\/bar\/wine storage all in one room, which they refer to as the \u201cbarffice.\u201d The main challenge that the \u201cbarffice\u201d posed, was the fact that the divergent functions of a workspace and a bar area do not typically coexist. The solution to this very unique problem, however, created a room unlike any other we have ever worked on over our careers. We are particularly fond of the \u201cbarffice\u201d, simply because of its audacity and peculiarity.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
