The owners of this property came to us with the goal of creating a secluded retreat that felt immersed in the Colorado wilderness. Rather than choosing a home site on their 16 acre property that favored mountain views, they instead chose a site in a natural hollow, allowing us to position the home in a way that ensured no other structures would be visible. Given the area\u2019s ranching roots, we used the Colorado rural vernacular to create a home that felt at ease within its environment. Calling on the environmental beauty of the area, we took a more natural approach to the requested \u201cwater feature.\u201d Partnering with landscape architect, Julia Marshall, we created a stream that meandered through the property, under a bridge that divides the master suite from the rest of the house, and into a pond we excavated in the front yard. The stream gives the property a soothing white noise effect that makes it feel all the more serene and secluded, while also acting as a striking reflecting pool as one approaches the home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
